  • “I know the struggle is real when it comes to drugs and alcohol. It seems like a lot of entrepreneurs, go through this struggle, but they're driven people. There's something about going through that fight in particular that people who can come out of it really come out with high-level people” - Adam Niffen
  • “I think there's a significant difference between health and fitness. You got a lot of fitness guys out there, but you don't have a whole lot of health guys.” - Adam Niffen

Intro/Outro00:02 - 00:17
Welcome to Fix Your Gym, a podcast about keeping your gear in shape. On this show, we have conversations with gym equipment gurus as we share stories on how they serve the fitness industry and community. And now, here's your host, Adam Niffen.

Adam Niffen00:21 - 01:11

Welcome to the show. I've got my man Clint Riggin on today from, well, he does a lot of things in a lot of places and has a really cool story that I'm super excited to hear about. I'm just getting to know Clint a little bit. He was highly recommended for some folks that we're acquainted with. Yeah, man. A couple things you have going on in particular, limitless coaching, the limitless experience. You're an eight-year Navy veteran. Thank you for your service, brother. Appreciate that. You're a bodybuilder and have quite the extensive record in that, which is really cool. I want to get into all these things, man, but give us a rundown, just a basic rundown of yourself, man.

Clint Riggin01:12 - 01:24

Yeah, for sure. Adam, first of all, thank you for having me. I really appreciate this. Honored to be here. This is your first guest appearance, right? So this is, I mean, this is awesome. It is. So congratulations on starting this up. I think you're going to change a lot of lives through you. Thank you, brother.

Adam Niffen01:24 - 01:26

Thank you for coming on, man. Absolutely.

Clint Riggin01:26 - 05:21

Oh, dude, I'm stoked. So a little bit about me. Yes. Eight year Navy veteran. I joined when I was 17 stationed in Hawaii for six years, stationed in Washington state for two years, worked on MH-60 Romeo helicopters and EA-18 Growlers. They're like F-18s. Soon shortly after that got out of the military didn't know I wanted to do in my life with California Started working private security for the president went to every one of his Trump rallies that you saw around the u.s So imagine 15 security guards. We had to manage 30,000 people at some of these events Dressed in all black walking around with Navy SEALs green berets, you know, it was it was awesome. Yeah, it was also like I You flew, you slept, you worked, you flew, you slept, you worked. It was just nonstop. High stress stuff. Yeah. Yeah. And then during that time, I didn't realize this. I got picked out of the military for drugs, cocaine, molly, like a couple of different things. I got out honorable, honorable discharge. Thank God. But I didn't realize that an addiction, I didn't realize that like, you know, partying and all these things were going to come into my life. So I was in California, I used to work for Park and Omni and all these different places doing promotions. And I got in the scene. So I was like going out to parties Thursday through Sunday, doing an obscene amount of drugs, drinking a lot of alcohol and just doing nothing with my life that was anything well put, per se. So when all that happened, I met a girl We moved to Orlando together. I was still doing private security, they gave me an ultimatum, said, hey, come live with me. Well, we met doing drugs, so that didn't work out, as you can think. And I wanted to create a fitness coaching business. So got kicked out of her place, left on the couch for six months, grew Limitless Coaching to a company that did 250 transformations our first year, made a half a million dollars. We did hormone replacement therapy, blood work consultations nationwide, meal prep supplements delivered to all of our clients. I became an athlete with Icon Meals. I gave a legionnaire with first form. So we were able to give everybody exactly what they needed because in 2018, I competed in a bodybuilding competition. I won overall the Sean Ray classic four months later, my thyroid stopped working, but stops running with a two 47. I went suicidal. I gained 45 pounds and I never want anybody to feel like that ever in their life. Right. And I understand that fitness and nutrition is not just the key. It's about optimizing your body and understanding your blood work and knowing what's going on internally. So that externally, you can have the body that you want, the life that you want, the energy that you want. And it's not just for yourself, it's for the people around you and your children and your employees and the relationships that you build. Like, I think a lot of people think that you're, you're just working on yourself. No, it's for your mental clarity. It's just the fact that you're doing something, you're building confidence. Every time you make a promise to yourself that you're going to go to the gym, you're going to eat health. You're going to do these things. So a big reason for me and starting that company was really what I went through. Take it back to, uh, you know, may of 2022, I had a 14 month depression because I hit, I pushed away my family, my friends, my relationships, everything that mattered in the world. And, uh, July 6th, my best friend took me and said, Hey man, I'm going on a road trip across the U S do you want to come? I was very, very, uh, against it because I was in my little room that nobody can mess with me. And I was like, I'm going to order Uber eats every day. And I was just going to live my life in here. Well, I'm glad that I did because, uh, brought me out of my depression. I lost 45 pounds. I partnered with one of the biggest companies doing exactly what I did, called the Starting Line Coaching. They have over 50,000 trainees that work with entrepreneurs, CEOs, C-suite executives, etc. And I found God. He came into my life in a really big way. He showed me my true passion for what I want to do is foster relationships, connect people, create memories. And then that's why I run holistic wellness events all over San Diego called Nexus. Nexus is the collaborative of people. That's what it stands for. And our motto is the next us. So bringing people together in a fashion where I used to do drugs and I used to party, but now coming there is reformed, renewed. I got baptized four weeks ago. Thank God.

Adam Niffen05:22 - 05:24

You're in the middle of a huge transformation, man.

Clint Riggin05:24 - 05:30

The Lord is working beautiful things in my life, man. I can't be more blessed.

Adam Niffen05:30 - 06:24

That is awesome, man. So I'm curious. I have a lot of questions here, man. You have a very interesting story. I have some similar things I relate with. I've been in recovery for, well, on and off for years, but for four years. And I know the struggle is real when it comes to drugs and alcohol. It seems like a lot of entrepreneurs, I hear it a lot, man, go through this struggle, but they're driven people. There's something about going through that fight in particular that people who can come out of it really come out with high-level people, man. It's really interesting. Tell me a little bit more about that struggle in particular. and kind of how you came out of that and how you use health and fitness to come out of those things. Does that make sense?

Clint Riggin06:24 - 08:39

Sure. Yeah, 100%. So I'll privy with this. My dad was a drug and alcohol counselor for 24 years. He was also an alcoholic before that for 20 years. So he saved people before he passed away. He always told me that I had a genetic disposition for addiction. I didn't know what that meant. Well, I have an addiction for everything. Addiction for winning, addiction for cocaine, addiction for alcohol. I can't just have one drink, I gotta have 10. I can't just have one bump, I gotta have 10. The addiction comes from within, but I realized what it was was my environment. It was the people I was surrounding myself with. Always been into fitness, always been into nutrition. When I changed my environment, I changed. When I started surrounding myself around with people that were actually doing something with their lives, and people that were much higher than me. Take Apex, for example, right? Joined Apex Entourage, I lied my last $2,500 to my name when I joined Apex. And I told myself, I said, hey, this is it, man. You either gotta do it or you're gonna sink or you're gonna swim. And we swam, thank God, because I knew that I wasn't going to fail. So if anybody listened to this, I'm going to tell you the number one thing is your environment. And two, I looked at myself in the mirror one day after I just got back doing a bender for like 72 hours and I was sweating profusely. I couldn't look at myself because my eyes were so like about to pop out of my head. And I was just like, Clint, what are you doing with your life, man? You have like $612 in your account. You're probably going to go spend it on the eight ball. Like what are you doing, man? And then I just had to, I had to tell myself, like, if you want to continue to live this life, you will go nowhere in your life. But if you want to continue to give a life of giving and serving other people and truly doing what you want to do with it, which is at that point, fitness coaching and helping people discover that belief in themselves that they haven't seen before or unlocked. I knew I had to make a change within myself. The big thing, man, I had to tell my mom that I was doing cocaine for three years. That was a really hard thing to do because my mom thought I was like this goody two shoes. I ran a company. I did all these great things. You know, I was, I was helping all these people, you know, and then I tell her the backstory and she's like, well, how can I, I had no idea.

Adam Niffen08:39 - 09:31

Wow. Yeah. That's, that's really interesting, man. That, that hits home for me in particular. I get the struggle. Um, and I get that. So, um, so obviously, so you were in the military, did that, I, we, we employ, we have two, two veterans. Well, one ended up just quitting, but I have a veteran that I've been working. He he's been, um, I've been mentoring him for, for a couple of years now. And he's our, he's our lead tech on our team. But, uh, but you know, he talks a lot about like, once he got out of that, you know, he kind of felt lost and, uh, and slipped into this, the same types of things. And, and so like, were you into. Where did your passion for health and fitness come? Did it come through that process or was it, obviously you were in military, so I'm sure you had some at that point in time, but like, where did it start developing?

Clint Riggin09:31 - 11:48

So I never worked out in high school. Never touched a weight, didn't really think about it. I played video games in high school. I was just that kid that just wanted to play video games. My friends would call, my dad would be like, hey, he's in the desert, he can't come out right now. I'm just chilling. But then when I realized I joined the military, And I was never seen in high school. So I joined the military and I started working out. I started to put on muscle. I came back and I was finally seen as a person. People started to finally recognize me. And I was like, wow, man, this is a different feeling. I kind of liked this feeling. So I got addicted to it. I started working out. I started following Greg. I started following all of his workouts. I started following his nutrition and I'm, I'm young at this point. You know, I don't really know what I'm doing. Then I learned what macros are, nutrients, TDE, BMR, like how all these things work in your body, your micronutrients, your macronutrients, how it is all this. And then I hired my first coach and then I went to my first bodybuilding show. I placed third. I went to my second show, I placed second. And then on my third show, I took so much gear. My coach put me on 12 CCs a week. If anybody's listening to this, it's, you can die taking that. And, um, I won that show, but at the same time, when my thyroid stopped working, my testosterone was super low. I was sleeping for 18 hours a day and I would still be tired. And the only way that I can bat that is at that time, my, my roommate was a drug dealer. He did real estate and he had drugs all the time. So I was like, Hey man, if you want to numb the pain, you're not going to get drug tests in the military. Why don't we do some lines? Well, those lines turned into one line, that line then turned into two days and then three days. And then I'll do a weekly. And then I was doing on the weekends and then I just snowballed into effect where it literally took over my life. And then You know, you're going to pop on a drug test. It's going to happen. Yeah. So it did happen for me. And that's truly where it started when I was in Hawaii. And then the health and fitness has always been something in my life, but I realized that I can not do drugs. I can not drink alcohol. I can not do all these things that put me back. Yeah. If I truly want to focus on being the best version of myself and also to be like a light and a beacon for other people. Yeah. Cause nobody's going to follow you. I know so many coaches out there that like, say they live this life, but really, they're partying, they're doing drugs, they're drinking alcohol, they're getting fucked up every single weekend.

11:48 - 11:50

It's a normal thing in the fitness industry.

Clint Riggin11:50 - 11:55

As long as you look good, you have a six-pack abs, you got a good face, that's all that matters.

Adam Niffen11:55 - 12:30

I think there's a significant difference between health and fitness. You got a lot of fitness guys out there, but you don't have a whole lot of health guys. And I was listening to, I was listening to your podcast this morning when you were talking with the guy from, from icon. And I really liked the information that, that, that, you know, you guys got into and there, and you know, when it comes to eating clean and things like that, and that, that being kind of the pillar, another thing too, that, that I noticed you, you talk about a lot is your five pillars. Explain those a little bit, because, uh, that's, that's, that's really interesting to me. Will you kind of dive into that just a little bit? Yeah.

Clint Riggin12:30 - 15:17

for sure. So, um, during this road trip, what I decided to do is create a playbook. I met somebody named Jonathan Connelly. He, we've been good friends. He goes by coach JC runs the win all day, builds brands for different people. And, um, he told me that there's five pillars in life, faith, family, fitness, focus, finance, right? And so the big thing that your audience can do right now is they take out a pen and paper, write down all five of those, and you want to grade yourself one through 10. So say you get a 25, Right now we want to divide that by 50. So once we divide that 50, that's going to give you 25, right? So then we multiply it by a hundred. That's your winning percentage in life. 25% is your, or 50, I'm sorry, that's 50% is your winning percentage in life. So you're giving 50% to the people around you, your family, your friends, your employees, everything. So now you, now we come into the program, we understand, okay, cool. So where are you lacking? Where do you need the resources? Where do I need to connect you in some way? Do you need to work on your credit or your business credit? Do you have a life insurance policy? Like, do you have a fitness plan? Do you have a nutrition plan? Have you optimized your body? Like, what does all this look like? Because there's so many different moving parts in your life that you don't even have time blocking done, a morning routine, a night routine. Like, how do you expect to do anything if you don't have the simplicity down? And that's what I realized. I didn't have a morning routine. I didn't have a night routine. I didn't time block my day. Now you can't even get on my schedule half of the time because I value my time, right? Like I value and I want to serve people at the highest level. And I know that this podcast is 30 minutes. I know that, Hey, I got a hard stop at this time, bam, boom, we're going to, we're going to go for that. I didn't do that before. So I want to teach other people. How do you value yourself? How do you put yourself first so you can give onto everybody else? And how do you bring God into your life? And I don't want to push you into your faith. I want you to show, I want to show you what God has done in my life. I want to truly just show you how happy, how blessed I am every single day to wake up. And this is something I listened to. And I say to myself every day, God did not wake you up today because he wanted to. God woke you up today because someone needed you. And that is the truth. 120,000 people do not wake up every single day. And we are blessed to have another day. And if we can just understand that and wake up with our eyes, like it might be a shitty morning, whatever it might be, but if you just look at the good and you look around you and you have the house and you have food and you don't have to walk two miles to get water, like all these small things that we take for granted, you're gonna appreciate life so much more.

Adam Niffen15:18 - 15:43

Yeah, dude, that's what I started to do. There's so many people in this world who have, you know, I spent a lot of my, my time like in self pity and things like that. But then you come out of that, that kind of hole of, you know, illusion and realize like, there's so many, there's so many people in the world who have it so much worse. Like we in this country, we have it, we really do have it so good. And we have so many blessings, just basic stuff, man. Um,

Clint Riggin15:44 - 16:15

I've been to multiple third world countries with the military. Right. And if you go to Thailand, if you go over to Singapore, Singapore is a beautiful place, but there's a lot of homeless there too. Like you can see how people live. You can see how bad it is when their kid hasn't eaten for seven days and you can see his rib cage. Right. And just know that you can walk to your fridge and you can get whatever you want. Yeah, dude. Yeah. It's crazy, man. You put it into perspective, bro. It's, it's, It's, it's wild to think.

Adam Niffen16:15 - 16:32

Yeah. Cool, man. We're getting close to time, but tell me a little bit about kind of what you, so you're on a road trip right now. You're, you're going through some serious transformation. What, what can we expect to see from you coming up? What do you got going on? What are you building? For sure. For sure.

Clint Riggin16:32 - 18:16

Uh, so Limitless will be under an umbrella for another company. So I just partnered with the starting line. The starting line does exactly what I do. Hormone replacement therapy, blood work, consultations, DNA testing, gut health testing, meal prep supplements, all delivered to your door. If you're at a conference, whatever it might be, you're an entrepreneur, CEO, C-suite executive, whatever that might be, we tend to you. So you have everything that you need. You don't have to worry about it. The biggest thing is time efficiency with us. As an entrepreneur, being an athlete with Icon Meals, I understand that time efficiency is key. I get my meal heated up for 60 seconds, put it in. I can eat. I can get on a meeting, whatever it might be. You know, we don't have time to go out. We don't have time to meal prep, et cetera. So with that partnership, um, we'll be going to all of the masterminds that you know of. So the aspire, you know, Ryan Steumann and yell at, you know, all these big guys, um, we're like, we're the fitness coaches for them. So huge, huge opportunity. I'm really excited to expand their vision and see exactly what they want to do. Can't talk about it anymore because I signed an NDA with them. So moving forward. But also next is Holistic Wellness events all over San Diego. First event is November 18th. Uh, we foster relationships, build connections, build brand equity through those sponsors. And, uh, all I do is, is want to make people grow. We have a hundred people come to our first event. It's completely free. You're going to work out there's yoga. We have a hydration from true wild, which is one of our sponsors. No co is our energy drink sponsor, multiple raffles with yoga box and rebel and, uh, uh, renegade. So like all of these different people, while I was in San Diego that I met for two weeks to just bring together Because I want to show people, when I was in San Diego, man, I did a lot of drugs.

18:16 - 18:17

I partied.

Clint Riggin18:17 - 18:38

I was with the wrong people. Bring those good people together, the people that really focus on holistic wellness, that really want to do something and embody it. And let's all create memories together. And let's all create friendships and have good people in your life. Because your environment, like I said, is one of the biggest things that matter.

Adam Niffen18:38 - 18:45

Very good, man. Very good stuff. Where can, where can people find you? Where can people connect with you?

Clint Riggin18:45 - 19:06

Yeah. So Clint underscore Reagan on Instagram, send me a DM anytime I'll answer you. Um, and then also Clint Reagan on Facebook and then the living limitless pockets on Spotify, Apple, pretty much like 15 different platforms if you want to check it out. And then, uh, Adam, what we'll do is man, we'll have you on the, have you on the podcast as well. Tell your story. Yeah. Overcoming adversity and, um, I can help other people with your, with your company.

Adam Niffen19:07 - 19:22

Absolutely, man. I really appreciate you coming on and looking forward to get to know you more in Apex and everything like that. So, yeah, man, I appreciate you. I appreciate you, brother. You have a great day. You do the same.
